City of Johnson City Electronics Recycling Program

Our nation relies on an ever growing and constantly changing supply of electronic products.  With newer, more high-tech gadgets becoming more and more available to fit everyone's lifestyle, we are replacing older models at a rapid rate with no signs of slowing down.  As a result, electronics are becoming one of the fastest growing portions of America's waste.  In order to effectively manage this segment of the waste stream, the City of Johnson City is pleased to announce an addition to their comprehensive recycling program.  Beginning October 16th, the city will accept the following electronics for recycling:  computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, telephones, cell phones, scanners, microwaves, DVDs/VCRs, and CD players.  Simply bring any of the above items to the Solid Waste Services office complex at 91 New Street in Johnson City.  Office hours are 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday.  If needed, someone can assist you with the unloading.  There is no charge for this recycling service.  Join the millions of Americans who already conserve our natural resources and keep harmful substances like lead and mercury out of the environment by recycling your old electronics.  For further information on how you can help, contact the City of Johnson City at 975-2792.

Computer Donations

During the 2006-07 school year, St. Mary's School accepts Pentium III computers that are 366 MHz or faster. If you have a PC that does not meet the above criteria, please consider contacting the Adult Education offices. Often times, they are in need of donations for their computer repair classes. Alternatively, Dell will recycle any brand of computer for a small fee and will pick up the PC at your home.

St. Mary's Kindergarten students reinforce emergent reader skills learned in the classroom through various software programs utilized in the school's computer lab.  Our middle school students receive instruction in keyboarding (6th grade) and PowerPoint (7th & 8th grade).

Featured Fundraiser...

Thank you for your loyal support of the Ink Cartridge Recycling Program. Please remember, we continue to collect empty ink cartridges throughout the school year!  Simply deposit your empty ink cartridges in the collection bin located between the two sets of front doors at the main entrance to the school.  An additional collection bin is located outside the Computer Lab at the far end of the school.  We recycle used toner and laser cartridges, as well! These should be put into a plastic bag and placed next to the recycling collection bin. Thank you for your participation. We earned $31.00 during the month of February. All funds earned go directly to support technology in our school.
