Mrs. Kirkwood's third grade
kicked off the school year with the theme "Flying High in Third Grade".
The class has studied the Wright Brothers and early flight, and also the
recent NASA space shuttle Endeavor mission to the International Space
Station.
Third grade is also studying the
metamorphosis of the butterfly by providing a temporary home for sixteen
monarch caterpillars! We released our first monarch butterfly,
named Monty, last week. He is now on his way to his winter home in
Mexico.
Our fall field trip
will be to see the play, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, on
November 26 at Eastman's Toy F. Reid Employee Center in Kingsport.
