Students buying lunch
or milk in the cafeteria must have a pre-paid cafeteria account.
Each student has an individual account - these accounts are not shared
between siblings. When a cafeteria payment is received in the
office, the credit amount is put on the student's lunch account.
Each time the student purchases a lunch, $3.50 is deducted from his/her
cafeteria account. Note: milk is included with a
purchased lunch. The lunch accounts are updated on a daily basis.
A cafeteria statement will go home at the beginning of each month, along
with the tuition and AfterCare statements in the family envelope.
If a cafeteria account gets below a $10. credit, the office may send a
notice home with the student. When making cafeteria payments, it
is acceptable to combine siblings on one check as long as a note is
included to indicate the amount for each student's cafeteria account.
Lunches are
ordered in the classroom each day. The teacher will send a lunch count
to the School Office. All students must pack a lunch or eat a school lunch.
Parents may not bring lunches from carry-out restaurants.
Parents are
always welcome (and encouraged) to join the children
during the lunch period. If you are planning to eat one of our
delicious entrees, please call the School Office by 9:00 a.m. that
day so the Cafeteria staff can ensure the proper quantity of entrees
are prepared. Adult lunches cost the same as student lunches.

Snacks

Research
shows that eating small, healthy snacks throughout the day helps maintain
energy levels and improves a child's ability to concentrate for extended
periods of time. In addition to the nutritionally sound and well-balanced
lunches provided by SMS, we also encourage students to bring a healthy snack
and water bottle from home each day. Water bottles should have a sports cap
versus a cap that unscrews. Please do not freeze water bottles overnight. We ask that you not send 'messy' snacks,
snacks that require utensils, or major clean up. Please avoid snacks with a
high sugar or fat content. Candy, chips, cookies, cakes, etc. will not be
allowed.
